Earthworms food

Favourite food for worms are protozoa, predator of bacteria.
1. Tea and coffee ground- an innoculum of bacteria. coffee grounds have lots of surface area by virtue of their somewhat small particle size, have a nice balance of carbon and nitrogen, and are damp but chunky, meaning lots of moisture in the presence of lots of air.
2. Many people add bananas, orange peels and corn cobs whole or in large chunks and find they are very effectively, if more slowly, processed.
3. Watermelon - they like high sugar, lots of water, they love it.
4. Vegetables -lettuce, cabbage
For preparing medium, i mean to make a good habitat for worms, we can use goats and cows
faecal material, you dump into a cholorine-free water for overnight. Then add on with grass ( already brownish color, exposed to sun for few days and then dump into chlorine-free water for one week). The worm favourite food, you can add to medium after that.
Please avoid meat and dairy products. Because the worm cannot ingest meat or dairy until it rots, and because the smell of meat and dairy is distasteful to humans but attractive to vermin and houseflies, the inclusion of these materials can cause problems with bins kept in or near human living spaces. Please avoid oily food, they don't like it. The other things is an acidic food like a lemon. They don't like acidic material.

Makanan kegemaran cacing adalah
1. Tembikai, Kulit aje. Letak bahagian bawah kulit tembikai atas medium
2. Lebihan kopi dan teh ( bilas buang gula),
3. Boleh letak kulit pisang, kulit epal, kulit kentang
4. Sayuran - yang senang urai.
Sebelum itu buat medium dulu menggunakan tahi kambing atau tahi lembu.. rendam semalaman. Kalau boleh rendam lebihkan air supaya hama tak terbentuk. Tambahkan dengan habuk kayu atau rumput ataupun daun-daun kering yang telah di rendam sekurang-kurangnya dua minggu. Elakkan surat khabar kerana ia mengurangkan pertumbuhan cacing. Kalau nak cepat, tambahkan EM ( bakteria pengurai) boleh di beli dari tokeh-tokeh cacing.
Benda yang perlu di elak semasa sediakan makanan cacing ialah bahan yang berasid dan berminyak.
